German automaker Audi is set to make yet another lavish entry into the SUV market with the 2016 Audi Q7. Slightly shorter and with sleeker features than its predecessor, the next generation Q7 maintains the current model’s base features while revamping the cars look in every way possible. Apart from cosmetic changes, the car will boast a more powerful engine capable that will ensure both speed and performance all the while, not sacrificing on fuel economy. From what we have seen so far, this car is all set to make a flamboyant new entry in the world of automobiles.
2016 Audi Q7: Redesign Exterior and Interior
Most prominent change this car has undergone through is in the weight department. Audi Q7 makers claim that this car has lost a staggering 716.5 pounds and is now the lightest in its class, weighing at just 4.390 pounds. Most of its structure has been built using high-strength steel, including backbone of the occupant cell. Rest of the car’s features like engine hood, door, and front fenders have been made entirely of aluminium.
In the front part, the car gets a sharper and more prominent grille design along with LED technology for headlights. Front part of this car is lower than the current model that makes it look slightly on the lighter side. Audi lets the taillights keep its wide appearance and makes it sharper and of a more angular nature.
In spite of its reduced dimensions, the 2016 Audi Q7 maintains its capability to seat 7 passengers. Additionally, it boasts increased trunk space of 10.4 cubic feet. Thus, it not only maintains its original seating capabilities, but adds some more space to the mix. Technological features also get multiple enhancements. Starting with the instrument panel, there is a high-definition screen that pops up at the push of a button, two 10.1 inch 32GB tablets from Audi fitted on the rear seatbacks and several other connectivity tools like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
Safety measures also get a revamp with the introduction of Exit Warning system that warns drivers of any upcoming vehicles before they open the gate. Another is Cross-traffic assist that prevents drivers from collision during slow reverse turns.
2016 Audi Q7: Engine Specs
The 2016 Audi Q7 comes with varieties of engines offering varying levels of economy, power and performance. The supercharged engine version comes with a V6 engine, capable of producing up to 280 hp and 333 hp while turbo-diesel V6 engine produces 240 hp and 406 lb-ft. The vehicle comes with a standard eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. According to reports on test performance, this car delivers around 28 mpg on a highway.
2016 Audi Q7: Release Date and Price
The 2016 Audi Q7 will be available in five-seater and seven-seater models across the globe, and is expected to go on sale in spring of 2015. In Germany, where the car will be launched, price is expected to start around 60 000 euros, and soon after will release in America at a price of around $ 76 000.
