Cadillac recently announced their upcoming 2016 Cadillac CTS-V release that is set to be the most powerful product under the brand name. This new entry to the world’s most high-class luxury cars has sent ripples all across the automobile market. According to the official word from the U.S. based company, Cadillac CTS-V has the juice to go from 0 to 60 mph in under just 4 seconds while hitting a top speed of 200 mph.
2016 Cadillac CTS-V comes equipped with a 6.2 litre supercharged V8 engine that produces a maximum of whopping 640 hp and an equally impressive torque of 630 lb-ft, which is 100 more than Mercedes Premium car E63 AMG. Cadillac president said in a recent interview that their car represents the pinnacle of the company’s technical and design capabilities. And we have no reason to disbelieve him.
2016 Cadillac CTS-V: Redesign Exterior and Interior
The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V comes with a 50 percent bigger front grille area, as cooling this monster of an engine is no easy task. There are no grille shutters available and carbon-fibre hood has been bent for engine clearance. It also has a rather large sized air extractor and flared fenders. Rest of the styling cues are quite similar to other high-end Cadillac models. This car also comes with 19 inch wheels that allow better road clearance and also added grip at high speeds.
Interiors are to be refurbished with only the highest quality leather and have comfortable seats. This car will offer Performance Data Recorder, which is GM’s tool that records high-definition video that can be shared via social media, on the fly. Other high-tech infotainment features are Siri Eyes Free, CUE infotainment navigation system, OnStar with 4G LTE and Bose audio system, and that is to mention just a few.
2016 Cadillac CTS-V: Engine and Fuel Economy
Now this is the part that demands to be discussed in minute details. The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V ditches its 6.2 litre V8 supercharged engine from Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z06 and introduces a direct injected engine. This engine makes the power flow through an eight-speed auto transmission. As stated earlier, this engine is one of the most powerful available in the market today. In addition, 2016 Cadillac CTS-V makes use of lightweight carbon-fibre that reduces weight of the vehicle, which in turn leads to greater performance, stability and fuel economy. It would be wrong to make an assumption that the elite class does not care about fuel consumption.
The CTS-V’s eight-speed automatic in fine tuned to give world class response times. Frequent and easy shifts in gears keep the engine right in the sweet spot and make most of the supercharged engine for outstanding performance at better efficiency. The new 8L90 transmission system offers manual control via steering wheel and Performance Algorithm Shifting feature provides semi-automatic transmissions with much smoothness and panache’.
