Ford Taurus has always been one of the bestselling car models of Ford since start of this series in year 1986 except for in 2006 when it was discontinued as they concentrated on making better SUVs. But now they have come back to America’s favorite model and have taken it one step further to improve it in terms of technology, design, efficiency and power with new 2016 Ford Taurus.
2016 Ford Taurus: Redesign Exterior and Interior
2016 Ford Taurus may seem same on exterior as its predecessor but a little more stylish and elegant in looks. Even though the exterior may not have changed a lot but it seems to have lost lot of weight in comparison to its previous model which weighed almost 4000 pounds thanks to use of aluminum in its making. Stylish and sporty design provides better aerodynamics for faster and smoother rides.
This new 2016 Ford Taurus will be lighter, faster and more fuel efficient than its predecessors. The interiors are also roomier than its earlier model which seemed to be one of the major problems with it along with its heavy weight. This new model will have an updated hexagonal front grille along with LED based headlights. The dual exhaust system is meant to give it a sportier look as well as feel along with increasing its fuel efficiency. The interior will consist of an 8 inch LCD display with MyFord Touch system and 2 GB storage for route maps, comfortable and heated seats, blind spot monitoring system, a cruise control, a blind spot monitoring system and so on.
2016 Ford Taurus: Engine and Fuel Economy
The current Taurus is equipped with a 3.5 liter EcoBoost engine which provides 288 horsepower and it is coupled with 6-speed automatic transmission system. The engine in the new 2016 Ford Taurus is to be a 2.3 liter four cylinder EcoBoost engine which is estimated to give a power of 365 horsepower and produce a torque of about 250 lb-ft. This engine is same as in the new Mustang lineup. This new engine will improve the fuel economy but for further improvement in its performance a nine-speed automatic transmission has been upgraded into it. Overall the lightweight, improved engine and better transmission will deeply influence the fuel economy and efficiency as well as the speed and the turning capabilities of this American bull.
The 2016 Ford Taurus will be able to provide a mileage of 19 mpg in the cities and around 28 mpg on the highways. The lower fuel economy will be pleasing for the buyer along with the government regulators and in turn everyone else. Ford’s focus on the lightweight has lead to this great transformation of the Ford Taurus and has helped achieve all of the above.
