Honda has decided to restyle its current-generation Pilot model completely and introduce several refreshments and upgrades to make it look more appealing and better in performance. The 2016 Honda Pilot is an SUV that will be the successor to the current model that last received a redesigning back in 2008. Of course, this time around, the new 2016 Honda Pilot is about much more than just a visually upgraded release. It will have changes in the exterior as well as in the interior part, along with a better engine offering a perfect blend of power and performance.
2016 Honda Pilot: Redesign Exterior and Interior
2016 Honda Pilot is expected to receive a completely new exterior design that will improve its looks and allow better aerodynamics. It has also been reported that the car will lose some weight due to the use of lighter weight materials. The benefits can are reaped in the form of increased performance and better fuel economy. We should see various changes in the front fascia of the vehicle including a larger and a bolder grille along with the front bumper. LED lights are also supposed to be fitted with both front and rear tail lamps to provide better visibility.
Since the SUV is based on a bigger platform, we expect to have a larger cabin space along with more comfortable seating arrangements. This 8-seater vehicle will come with three rows of seats that are both comfortable and spacious. There is heating facility for the front and second row of seats and with an additional option of a heated steering wheel.
The equipment package of 2016 Honda Pilot seems to have been made more user-friendly as Honda has done away with the cluttered design of its predecessor. Infotainment and safety features include a very capable audio system, Bluetooth and USB connectivity along with multipurpose safety tools such as Blind Spot indications, navigation system, adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning. Honda is doing all they can to provide the most comfortable rides with added safety measures.
2016 Honda Pilot: Engine and Fuel Economy
We can say for sure yet, but it is likely that the 2016 Honda Pilot will be powered by a 3.5 litre V6 i-VTEC engine capable of producing a modest horsepower of 290 and torque of 267 lb-ft. It is speculated that the car will be offered on both front-wheel and all-wheel drive systems. The engine will come mated to a 6-speed auto transmission. Mileage has been clocked at 18 mpg for city drive and 24 mpg for highways. This is a boost of around 2-3 miles over its previous model. On higher trim variants, the engine might be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission system.
2016 Honda Pilot: Release Date and Price
We are still waiting for the official word about release and price of this car. But as per our expectations, the 2016 Honda Pilot should become available sometime around late 2015, or in the beginning months of 2016. The price will vary from $ 30 000 to $ 42 000 depending on the choice of trim.
