Ever since its launch in 2000, the Santa Fe has gone through three generations of changes with the last model arriving in 2013. The upcoming 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe is yet another entry into the mid-size crossover segment that will sport some refreshments over its older brother. Even though the changes are not expected to be substantial, the Korean automaker has stated that the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe will have numerous changes to its exterior, interior and minor improvement performance wise. There are also rumours that the car will be offered in two varieties namely Santa Fe Sport and Grand Santa Fe.
2016 Hyundai Santa Fe: Redesign Exterior and Interior
Like we come to expect from mid-cycle refreshment launches, the new Hyundai Santa Fe will be larger in size than the former models and now be available in both 5-seater and 7-seater variants. The wheelbase is also expected to get longer, and overall the car will look very modernised and stylish. There will be minor modifications on the grille and front bumper along with sleeker and more aggressive-looking headlights. The SUV will maintain its standard look and add to it much more impressive looking alloy wheels, heated exterior mirrors and projection headlights. The car, in one word, looks fantastic.
Along with its modified exterior, the inside of new Hyundai Santa Fe will also go through similar refreshments. It will boast top-notch infotainment and safety features such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, great audio and navigation system along with a very useful dashboard for controls. Other features include a heated steering wheel, push-button start and a panoramic sunroof.
As far as the comfort factor goes, we can expect the seats to be upholstered with fine leather and be spacious enough to allow for a more comfortable ride than ever before. There will be three rows of seats that can accommodate up to 7 passengers and will have maximum safety features for both the driver and passengers.
2016 Hyundai Santa Fe: Engine and Fuel Economy
From the information we have gathered so far, Hyundai is unlikely to bring in a new engine for the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe. The current unit is expected to be featured under the hood of this car, and be fitted with a 3.3 litre direct injection engine generating a horsepower of 290 and torque of 252 lb-ft. Another variant that may become available in the future is a turbocharged 2.0 litre Theta II engine of 4 litres with an output of 265 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque. It is to be paired with a 6-speed auto transmission system and have fuel economy of around 22 mpg in combined driving using the front-wheel drive mode.
2016 Hyundai Santa Fe: Release Date and Price
Price of 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe is expected to start at $ 30 000 for its base model and go higher depending on the trim level. We expect the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe to release around mid or late in the year 2015 but have no official word yet. It will compete with other great vehicles such as Nissan Pathfinder and Toyota Highlander.
