The 2017 Acura TLX concept was announced shortly after the manufacturer released its predecessor, the 2015 TLX. The new model comes refreshed in a luxurious sedan design. Offered in two trim levels, the car will feature an updated powertrain option, adopting Acura’s Super Handling, All-Wheel Drive system, which offers an updated torque-vectoring options.
2017 Acura TLX Design
There is still few details available concerning the 2017 Acura TLX. However, judging from the spy shots the car looks shorter than the current version, by few inches. It will come in luxurious sporty styling. The front end will look more stylish than its predecessor, thanks to the new Jewel Eye headlights featuring LED technology. The Jewel Eye headlights are now standard on all Acura models. The front fascia features distinct styling with fog lights and molded bumper. The car will ride on sporty 17-inch alloy wheels. It is also standard across the Acura lineup. Other exterior features include heated side mirrors and a sunroof.
Inside the new 2017 Acura TLX, consumers should expect a luxurious and comfortable cabin. It is fitted with an updated infotainment system. The previous model failed to attract the expected sales due to its interior features. The automaker has included new top-notch standard equipment for 2017 TLX. Those are such as USB port interface, iPod connectivity, keyless ignition, heated side mirrors, premium sound system, Bluetooth audio and phone integration, tire pressure monitoring system, climate control among others.
Comfort will be enhanced by high-quality material upholstering on the front and rear seats. The seats are well spaced, allowing for sufficient headroom and legroom hence. Passengers will feel very relaxed and comfortable even for longer drives. The car will feature plenty of driver assistance and safety features such as rearview camera, lane departure warning, forward collision warning system, blind-spot monitoring system. The Advance package option will add front and rear parking sensors, LED fog lights, navigation system among others.
Under the hood, the upcoming 2017 Acura TLX will be powered by two engine options. Typically, not so much has changed in terms of powertrain compared to the 2015 model. The base engine will be a 2.4-liter four-cylinder, which is capable of generating up to 209 horsepower at 182 ft-lb of torque. It will be mated to an 8-speed dual clutch transmission which will send power to its front wheels. In terms of fuel efficiency, the engine is rated at 28 miles per gallon, which is actually above average for a car of its category.
The second powertrain offered is a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that is rated to produce 290 horsepower at 257 lb-ft of torque. It will be paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission that will deliver power to either the front wheels or all the four wheels (AWD). It has an excellent fuel economy of 25 miles per gallon, combined. This optional engine will be fitted on Advance Package model, SH-AWD TLX trim level.
Price and Release Date
The automaker has not yet released the official release date and price for 2017 Acura TLX. However, according to recent rumors, customers should expect this car to hit the roads by the end of this year or probably in the first or second quarter of 2017. The base model, which will be fitted with the 2.4-liter engine will cost around $32,300 while advanced trim models featuring the V-6 engine will be priced slightly higher, going up to around $50,000.
