With new models of BMW X3, Jaguar F-Pace, and Audi SQ5 lined up to be released with notable changes, Honda is unlikely to stay behind in the luxury SUV section. Given this, rumors are afloat about the automaker preparing its new 2018 Acura RDX for a late 2017 release.
Engine of 2018 Acura RDX
No new powertrain for the new RDX. Honda will continue to use its 3.5-liter V6 engine combined with a six-speed automatic gearbox (with manual shift). This will produce a power output of around 279 hp and a torque output of 252 lb-ft. Expect a top speed of around 135 mph.
Acura RDX 2018 will be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.2 seconds and will reach 100 mph in 10 seconds. A lighter body frame may see its EPA figures improve a bit. Rating is likely to stand at 19 mpg within city premises, 28 mpg on the highways. Expect a combined rating of 23 mpg.
2018 Acura RDX Dimensions and Chassis
Till now, Honda’s luxury SUV was based on the CR-V platform. However, rumor has it that the automaker is working on its new modular platform and might use it on its new 2018 Acura RDX. The new chassis will make the SUV come with a front-wheel drive layout along with reduced body vibrations. Overall curb weight of Acura RDX 2018 may also be reduced considerably
An increase in dimensions is also on the cards. The 2018 SUV may sport a wheelbase of more than 105.7 inches. Its overall length will stand at more than 184.4 inches while its maximum width may increase to around 73 inches. Ground clearance may, however, remain at 5.4 inches offering enhanced off-road features. Expect passenger capacity to stay at 5 with the addition of another row to remain unlikely.
2018 Acura RDX Exterior and interior Redesign
Honda may come with slight design modifications in its new 2018 RDX. Speculations are high about the automaker forcing the design of its Acura Precision Concept on all its future vehicles. RDX may not be an exception. This will see the SUV come with an entirely new front grille with diamond Pentagon structure. Mesh design will be diverging from the Acura badge.
Air intakes may be enlarged along with its front bumper. Headlights will be sharper with its Acura exclusive 5-eye LED lamps. The rear may receive slight modifications with a redesigned taillight and back-door.
Interiors of 2018 Acura RDX will sport all the usual of a luxury SUV. Driver’s seat will be 10-way power adjustable while its passenger’s seat will be 4-way. Both will come with heating and optional ventilation features. Rear seat will be 60-40 foldable to provide extra cargo space. Expect an LCD screen in place of the instrument cluster and a moderately redesigned dashboard.
2018 Acura RDX Technology and Safety
This is where Honda will look to stay ahead of all the competition with its new Acura RDX 2018. A 7-speaker audio system is likely to be installed along with a new LCD. Infotainment will also consist of Speed-sensitive Volume Compensation (SVC), SiriusXM satellite radio, Siri Eyes and automatic temperature control.
