For the new 2018 Ford Mustang, there have been several speculations and leaked spy shots, leading to a lot of anticipations about the upcoming car.
The six generation Ford Mustang 2018 will be getting a series of visual and mechanical changes. Although the Blue Oval is remaining silent about the future of Mustang model, the recent leaks and rumors have given a much better idea of what can be expected from the 2018 model year.
Engine of 2018 Ford Mustang
The most significant change to the lineup of Mustang model for 2018 model year is that the V6 engine won’t be available any longer. This naturally aspirated 3.7-liter six-cylinder engine generates 300 hp @6500 rpm and 280 lb-ft of torque @4000 rpm. If the recent reports are believed to be true, this V6 engine will be replaced by a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine in 2018 Ford Mustang. This engine will generate 310 hp along with 320 lb-ft of torque.
Some Mustang fans might be left disappointed by the discontinuation of V6 engine. For someone who doesn’t like a turbo four engine under the hood of a pony car, you have the option of stepping up to the GT model, which shall continue to offer a powerful V8 unit. It is expected that Shelby GT350 will stay for at least one more model year.
Earlier, there were rumors that range topping model GT500 will make a return with as much as 800 HP of output. If that is the case, the well-praised Dodge Challenger Hellcat might no longer be the most powerful muscle car.
With 2018 Ford Mustang, the additional cost options will be expanded by Ford with a dual exhaust system and a 10-speed automatic transmission. There shall also be an adaptive suspension called MagneRide, which is borrowed from GT350 model. It has also been revealed that a new option package will be launched with this model. This new package will be known as Performance Package 2, although there is no information about what this model includes.
As is the case in general, the mechanical changes in 2018 Ford Mustang are accompanied by a selection of visual tweaks as well. You can expect a visual redesign, which shall include redesigned bumpers, new alloy wheels and new lights on both ends. Two additional body colors will also be available, namely royal crimson and orange fury.
Chevrolet Camaro is presently as good as it has ever been and it continues to be the toughest rival of Ford Mustang. Ford is expected to make some massive changes to standing up to its competitor. In fact, 2018 Mustang is even using track sourced components to fight head to head against Chevrolet Camaro.
